Cuban Salsa Rueda

Introduction to Cuban Salsa:

Learn the basic movements and rhythms of Cuban dancing, and apply them in the “Rueda”, or “wheel”, a circle game, which is played with a caller, and couples switching partners in formations. This game, originally danced by advanced couples for fun at Cuban dancehalls, turns out to be an extraordinary way for non- Cubans to learn the basics of the dance, and the feel of the partnering. All dancers are introduced to both lead and follow through “cambios” or exchanges of roles during the dance.

Continuing Salsa Rueda:

Experienced Dancers continue learning the rather extensive syllabus of steps and patterns being developed in this dance. Emphasis is also placed on learning the meaning and pronciation of the Cuban terms, and dancers learn to call the circle, from both lead and follow positions.
